The Problem


Provide Community faced challenges in managing the workload of podiatry clinicians and ensuring efficient training methods. The traditional process required senior clinicians to physically accompany junior staff for patient visits, leading to inefficiencies and stretched resources.

The Solution


Provide Community deployed RealWear smart glasses to enable remote patient visits and real-time communication between patients and senior podiatry consultants.

The RealWear Navigator® 500 devices, chosen for their hands-free operation, durability, and full-shift battery life, allowed junior clinicians to stream video appointments live and receive immediate support from remote colleagues.

This innovative approach facilitated on-the-job learning and virtual support, eliminating the need for senior staff to travel to various sites or patients needing to book follow up consultations.

(A&E), saving 3,744 hours annually and expanding care access in Cambridgeshire. The initiative also received recognition as a regional winner in the NHS Parliamentary Awards 2023.
