The Problem

Michelin Innovation Labs faced challenges in enhancing collaboration across its global Research and Development centers and specialized workshops. The need was to efficiently conduct tire quality inspections, internal field tests, and training, especially in disparate locations and situations like mining sites and dealing with COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Michelin turned to AMA's XpertEye remote assistance solution. Based on RealWear HMT-1 smart glasses, the solution enabled remote assistance for various use cases. It allowed Michelin's experts to guide and collaborate with teams worldwide in real-time, facilitating activities such as tire autopsy, field test analysis, and specialized training in tire cutting techniques.

The Result

The deployment of AMA's XpertEye solution led to a significant enhancement in Michelin's operational efficiency and expertise sharing. Quality management was improved through more effective tire inspections and analysis. In internal field tests, the solution allowed for more accurate and timely tire wear assessments under challenging conditions. Training procedures were streamlined, enabling remote, expert-led guidance, thus reducing congestion at specialized sites and improving lead times.
