Thursday 23rd January 2025 – Vancouver, WA – RealWear, the leading provider of ruggedized assisted reality solutions, today announces that Dr. Chris Parkinson, the company’s Co-Founder and CEO, will be stepping down after a decade of dedication to the company.
Since co-founding RealWear in 2015, Dr. Parkinson has played an instrumental role in shaping the rugged head-worn computing industry, guiding the company through significant milestones including the introduction of groundbreaking products, strategic partnerships, and navigating major global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under his leadership, RealWear has grown into the global leader in industrial wearable solutions, shipping more rugged industrial smart glasses than any other company and positively impacting frontline workers worldwide.
In his farewell message, Dr. Parkinson expressed his pride in the company's accomplishments and confidence in RealWear’s future:
"I'm really proud of the superlative work RealWear has done. We have added new devices to our portfolio, which should appear later in 2025, and we added a new generation of RealWear employees and leaders to take the company forward."
"And that's where my exit comes in. Like any responsible parent, I have been looking for the right time to step aside and let the company grow. And now, after 10 years, this clears the way for the new leadership team to drive the vision at RealWear and I can continue to cheer from the sidelines."
“Of course, to get to this stage, there are so many people to acknowledge and thank. The whole RealWear team have been so important to the success we have created.”
Incoming CEO Sebastian Beetschen expressed his enthusiasm for his new role and appreciation for Dr. Parkinson's leadership, stating: “I am truly honoured to take on the role of CEO at RealWear and to build on the incredible foundation that Chris has established.”
“As we transition, I look forward to staying in touch with Chris over the next few months to ensure a seamless handover and to build on the strong foundation he has set for the company’s future.”
“I look forward to leading RealWear into an exciting future and to work even closer with our partners to bring the customer experience to the next level.”
The company will move forward under the direction of its experienced leadership team: Sebastian Beetschen, Timon Binder, Derrick Sawyer, Owen Loughrey and Amy Allison.
RealWear extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Parkinson for his visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and transformative contributions that have shaped the company over the past decade.
