Honeywell International Inc. is a renowned Fortune 100 global conglomerate, operating across diverse sectors such as aerospace, building technologies, performance materials, and safety productivity solutions. Known for its pioneering spirit in technology and innovation, Honeywell's broad expertise extends into the design and implementation of complex industrial automation control systems.
The Problem
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges for Honeywell Process Solutions, a vital division of Honeywell. Their standard practice of conducting onsite validations and testing of industrial equipment at customer locations was suddenly hindered by social distancing guidelines.
This disruption threatened to derail the implementation schedules of critical industrial automation systems, impacting Honeywell's commitment to operational excellence and client satisfaction.
The Solution
In response to the travel and social distancing constraints, Honeywell swiftly adapted by integrating RealWear HMT-1 and Intrinsically Safe HMT-1Z1 head-mounted devices, equipped with Microsoft Teams for RealWear.
This innovative solution enabled a solitary onsite Honeywell employee to connect in real-time with offsite experts. The voice-activated, high-resolution RealWear devices allowed seamless communication and sharing of visual details of the equipment, facilitating remote collaboration and decision-making without compromising on the quality of the acceptance tests.
The Results
Honeywell sets new production standards with Microsoft Teams and RealWear wearable tablets
