We’re proud to announce the general availability of Firmware Release 2.0 for the RealWear Navigator 500 and 520 headsets, marking the arrival of Android 13 to our flagship products. This milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology to frontline professionals, ensuring enhanced performance, security, and user experience.
What’s New in Firmware Release 2.0?
This release represents a fundamental upgrade, providing users access to Android 13, the latest and most secure version of the Android operating system. With this update, your RealWear Navigator 5xx series headsets are now equipped with advanced features designed to meet the evolving needs of modern enterprise environments.
Here’s what you can expect:
1. Enhanced Security and Privacy
Security is at the heart of Android 13. Now, apps on your Navigator 500 or 520 smartglasses must request explicit user permission before sending notifications, offering better control and transparency over your device’s functions. With security updates integrated into this firmware, we ensure that your device is up to date with the latest protection mechanisms.
2. Revamped Voice Engine for Ultimate Performance
One of the standout features of this release is the major update to our WearHF voice engine. Based on extensive customer feedback, we’ve redesigned the engine to improve voice recognition and noise cancellation, particularly in challenging environments. Whether in high-noise or low-noise conditions, your Navigator 500 series device will adapt, ensuring crystal-clear communication. Plus, users now have the option to manually select noise cancellation settings via My Controls.
3. Display Scaling for Better Visibility
We’ve introduced a new Display Scaling feature, allowing users to adjust the screen size if they find it difficult to see the four corners of the display. This is especially useful for those working in fast-paced environments with RealWear smart glasses who need enhanced visibility to perform tasks efficiently.
4. Trust on First Use (TOFU) for Enterprise Networks
To ensure seamless enterprise deployment, we’ve added TOFU (Trust on First Use) support for certificate-based Wi-Fi networks. This makes connecting to secure enterprise networks more efficient and secure, streamlining the setup process for IT administrators.
5. Connectivity to RealWear Cloud over 4G LTE
With this update, your RealWear Navigator 500 series headsets now support improved connectivity to RealWear Cloud over 4G LTE. This ensures that your team stays connected, no matter where they are, with access to metric insights and remote assistance (using Cloud Assistance) when needed.
6. Continuous Refinements Based on Feedback
In addition to the major updates, we’ve made some small but impactful changes such as bug fixes and updating Dutch translations in the My Camera app. These refinements are a result of ongoing collaboration with our users, ensuring that our products evolve in line with real-world needs.
